Education Programme

If you're thinking a year ahead, sow seeds;
If you're thinking 10 years ahead, plant a tree;
If you're thinking 100 years ahead, EDUCATE PEOPLE.

Our educational objective is to increase public awareness and support for the Environmental and Historic Programmes in order to empower people of all ages to get involved in achieving the Trust's mission to preserve natural environment and places of historic significance for the present and future generations of the Cayman Islands.

Summer Camp

Every summer the National Trusts Summer Camp is jam-packed with adventure, learning and high energy fun. Children age seven through 12 are given an opportunity to soak up some of Cayman’s most beautiful and intriguing places of interest. Campers enjoy daily field trips; swimming; arts and crafts; games; environmental, historic and cultural lessons.

Every year the Trust ensures that our activities expand our camper’s knowledge of Cayman’s natural and cultural heritage. Discover the playful side of art at the National Gallery and history at the Mission House and Miss Lassie’s House. Nature is a major component, as kids explore bat caves, identify birds at a bird sanctuary, conduct a scavenger hunt at the Botanic Park and tour through Mangrove forests.

Heritage Heroes

Thanks to the joint sponsorship of Walkers and PricewaterhouseCoopers, the National Trust has launched a new education initiative, “Heritage Heroes” Youth Conservation Club.  Aimed at middle school students and held as an after school club, the new programme teaches students the importance of protecting the natural environment, history and culture of the Cayman.

Speaker Series

Join us for our bi-monthly speaker series which features guest speakers from a variety of disciplines.

Be a part of a discussion covering hurricane history, construction and planning issues and also highlighting Caymanian homes which survived some of the worst storms experienced in the Cayman Islands.  Discuss appropriate responses to some of the challenges that climate change presents or learn about increased concerns of the health of our Oceans.

Members of the audience are also welcome to share their own experiences.

Thank you to St. Matthew’s University and the University College of the Cayman Islands for allowing us the use of their lecture halls.
